'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the thrilling dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles following the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a speculative strike from 25 yards, and the defender immediately slammed home the rebound before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory capped an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. Amid the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a next round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's volley from about way out going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for having a go from that range," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after Orient changed shape. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the opposition who complimented the way Orient played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they always find their target and they are adept at control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It demands a tough attitude and focus just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has swiftly replicated that in his new home. At the London club he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford, before he departed his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a bit naive going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that maturation for his team and nation, excelling for his national side, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including two matches fixtures against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

It has been quite the ride for the kid from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his dad, his father, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's sole appearance for United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to temperatures of -15C. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "It was fairly simple, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I thought I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by club employees, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to socialize with the guys but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
